Easy for Jubilee Song.

The seven-furlong sprint proved a good thing for the favourite, Jubilee Song, who held Slippery over the final bit. Jubilee Song led for home ahead of Miss Hushabye and Slippery. Jubilee Song was shaken up when Slippery challenged and he drew away to win nicely by a length and a-half. Miss Hushabye was over two lengths further away, third, and Ephialtes was fourth. Winner From Gisborne. Boomerang was the favourite in the concluding event, but ’Quake, owned and trained at Gisborne, won from the Wanganui-owned Topthorn. Topthofn, Tommy Atkins and ’Quake raced in line for a couple of furlongs, but at the straight entrance Topthorn was clear of ’Quake and Vivienne and Boomerang. In the straight ’Quake and Topthorn drew away, the first-named winning by a length. Boomerang, three lengths away, was third, a head in front of Vivienne. Details of results: — MAIDEN RACE.
