MAJESTIC CINEMA. "THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOID.” The story of “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,’’ which is being screened at the Alajestic Cinema, is one of thc finest examples of the mystery type of play that has been seen here—plenty of thrills, little that is morbid and absorbing action from the rise to the fall of the curtain. The addition of ultramodern thought and investigation to a story woven round the quiet life of an early Victorian village, with its Norman English cathedral, its crypts and underground galleries, its key-jangling, lantern-swing old caretaker, make for mystery drama of distinctive quality. The book on which the picture Is based was to have been in 12 monthly parts; six were published, and there the mystery was left unsolved for the pen of the only man who knew the secret was laid aside for ever. This was in June 1870, and since that date the literary world has had an intriguing and at the same time a baffling occupation is essaying to supply the solution that the author had intended for the plot which he had constructed.
