ATTRACTIVE DISPLAY

HOME INDUSTRIES BUILDING MOVE BY BUSINESSMEN. Tor the first time in the history of the Wanganui Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the businessmen of Wanganui have combined in making the home industries building attractive and pleasing to the hunureds of visitors who will through this section during the course of the show. At tile instigation of the association, and in an endeavour to bring the s.ogau “Shop in Wanganui’’ more forcibly beiore the public, the Wanganui JUrapers, Furnishers and Boot Retailers’ Association has arranged a row of stalls in the centre of the building. This move has met with the approval of ail concerned and the buildirg in question lias been transiormed into something hitherto at the Wanganui Show. In addition to the stalls arranged by the diapers, furnishers and boot rei talters, tach one occupying an area of . ten square feet, taeie i» a row of I stalls displaying electrical appliances, I radio seis, rexiiterating plains anu | ga» st«»\e=, together with household / nails fur Use in huiues lilted wjth ,>. A dividing lane separates the v»wu rows uf stalls and the display op. either side is botn interesting and attractiw. The walls and rafters have been decorated for the occasion, as a result ot which the u&uai drab and bare interior appearance o the build ing has been completely eliminated. I'aiustaking care has been taken by i hose responsible toi the interior decorations of the home industries section to ensure that this portion of the show will strike a note of instant appeal. Already, many iavuurable comments have been beard and if this 'ear’s success is any criterion it seems "likely that an attractive display by businessmen will be a feature ot future shows. The home industries set tion alone has always been of considerable interest and its revival •''t the “Show of fshtzws” has been well received. Tais year, however, the home industries adjunct to the show is supported by an organised effort to provide attractions of widespread appeal. ... , . , In addition to displaying their goods, the retailers concerned are taking orders and in several casts offering goods for sale at the show. The knit ting, needlework and cooking exhibits are placed round the walls, which, in turn aie attractively adorned with suitable decorations. There is a pleas ing blen-l of artistry and colour about the entire building and this new venture should prove a lasting feature in a show which offers man} attractions.
