Meteorological Office. Wellington, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 4 p.m. General Situation. —'There is little change on the pressure distribution. An anti-cyclone is still centred east of the {South Island, aud a depression to the north-east of Cape Maria A’an Diemen. Forecast. —Winds: Moderate to strong south-easterly north of Wcsiport and Kaikoura, of gale force in. some exposed positions; light, to moderate north-eastierlies south of Westport and Kaikoura. Seas (New Zealand waters): leather rough to rough north of Kaikoura aud in the South Taranaki Bight, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh south-east winds and rather rough seas in the northern portion, moderate but later freshening north-east to north winds in the southern, portion, with moderate seas. Weather: Still clea<v rr<l with scattered rain in the northern and east coast districts tj iho North Island, elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures cold, -with, sharp frosts in the South Island.
