RETURNED SOLDIERS’ TOURNEY TO DAY'S CLASH AT BELMONT OVLK 100 ENTRIES RECEIVED The Wanganui returned soldiers’ annual golf tournament is to be played at Belmont links to-day. There are over 100 entries and a start is to be made punctually at 12.30 p.m. Appropriate trophies arc to be competed for, and great interest will attach to the championship, which is at present held by A. E. Ekstcdt, Palmerston North, and also in the teams contest, the title for which is held by the Wellington Regiment. Last year, when this tourney was inaugurated, developed into a happily arranged “Diggers’” re-union. Today’s event promises to eclipse both the standard of golf and the tenor of goodfellowship set in 1934. Participants are particularly requested to note the times to tee off, as published in yesterday's “Chronicle,” and be punctual, so that the day’s programme may proceed without a hitch. WANGANUI CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND < JONSOLATION HANDICAP Tn conjunction with the bogey match which will be played at the Belmont links on Saturday, the* first iound of the Wanganui Golf Club’s championships must be played, while the second round of the Consolation Handicap is also down for decision.
