DROWNING FATALITY
GIRL AT CAMBRIDGE SECOND IN THREE WEEKS LEAP FROM HIGH BRIDGE [ Per Preos Association. 1 CAMBRIDGE, Sept. 2. The second drowning fatality in three weeks occurred at Canibridgo shortly before noon. A girl aged about 23 was seen to jump from a high level bridge and fall 139 feet into the Waikato. The tragedy was witnessed by a number of relief workers oa the bank. Every effort was made to rescue the body. Two workers in a canoe found the body caught in a snag, and in trying to lift the head above water overturned in the swirling current and with difficulty reached the bank. A relief worker named T. Collins showed conspicuous courage and the body was finally secured with the aid of ropes by the police. The victim was a pretty brunette, wearing a green cardigan and skirt and yellow jumper. Her identity has been established a.s that of Hilda Mersey Moorhouse, aged 23, daughter of Captain and Airs. R. W. Moorhouse, Hamilton Road, Cambridge.
