Lord Blodisloc, in a letter in (he Timos, extols the agricultural possibilities of New Zealand, particularly tho pumice lands. He points out thn developmental capabilities of large areas of potentially fertile soil, and ho cites instances of holdings which eclipse Jesse Colling’s “three acres and a cow.” Lord Blcdisloe advocated, with Dominion concurrence, the establishment of a Royal Commission of scientific and explanatory scope, before which he would gladly give evidence. He also suggests the formation of a svatutory company comparable with Edward Gibbon Wakefield’s Now Zealand Company. with a capital of £5,000,000 to pay at least part of emigrants’ passages and subsidise the equipment of holdings.
