Meteorological Office’, ‘Wellington, Monday, Sept. 2. 4 p.nt. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone over New Zealand is centred off the east coast of the South Island. Pressure is low across the North Tasman Sea and to the north of the Dominion. Forecast.— Winds: Moderate to strong south-easterly to easterly north of Westport and Kaikoura, reaching gale force in places and back ing to north-easterly in the far north; elsewhere light and variable, but. soon tending northerly and later freshening. Seas (N.Z. waters); Rough on the east coast north of Kaikoura, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong north-east winds and rough seas in the north ern portion, moderate but freshening northerty winds with moderate seas in the southern portion. "Weather: Unsettled in the northern and east coast districts of the North Island, with rain in places, some heavy falls being likely in the far north. Some showers also in the Cook Strait area, elsewhere mainly fair to fine. Temperatures cold with severe inland frosts in the South Island, but becoming milder in northern districts.
