WEDDING

URWIN—JOHNS. Last Wednesday one of the prettiest weddings was celebrated at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Raetihi, at 6.30 p.m., when Joyce Elizabeth, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Urwin, was married to Allan Godfrey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johns, of Hamilton. Rev. C. Dobbs was the officiating minister, and Miss Ada Lewis presided at the organ. Mr. T. Ward acted as vsher. During the signing of the register Miss Violet Eastman rendered a solo. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, with lycopodium, acacia, jonquils, camelias, and Iceland poppies. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked very pretty in a frock of gold lame made on graceful lines and falling to form a train, which was adorned with horseshoes and lovers’ knots made of orange blossoms. Her beautiful embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a halo of gold leaves and she carried a sheaf of gold lilies. The bridesmaids, Miss D. Anderson and Miss Ruth Johns, looked dainty in frocks of waterlily green and shell pink ninon, embossed in gold lame, with lishtail train and gold halo caps. Sheafs of winter roses, maidenhair fern and gold foliage to match the frocks were carired. Mr. R, B. Davies ably carried out the duties of best njan, with Mr. Rangi Tombs, of Hamilton, as groomsman. After the ceremony the many guests assembled at Keucke’s tearooms, where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of. The usual toasts were duly honoured and best wishes extended to the young people. The guests were received by the bride’s mother, who was dressed in a wine ma'talenc frock with beige trimmings, hat to match, and a musquash coat. She carried a posy of winter roses and foliage. Mrs. Johns, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy georgette and lace ensemble with hat and furs to tone, carrying a posy of anemones and roses. Airs. A. Hardley (Auckland), sister of the bridegroom, wore a bottlegreen ring velvet frocks, hat to tone, and musquash fur coat. Airs. B. Head (Wanganui), sister of the bridegroom, wore a nigger brown morocain frock with brown hat and furs to match. * Airs. A. G. Urwin, sister-in-law of the bride, wore a shell pink satin beaute frock with starch applique net and white fur coat. Mrs. S. L. Graham (Shannon) wore a pink lace frock and musquash fur coat. Miss B. Brown (Palmerston North) wore a tangerine hand-painted organdie frock and black romaine coat. Rev. C. Dobbs acted as chairman, and the speakers were Messrs. L. N. Ritchie, R. B. Davies, B. A. Drury, A. E. Urwin, R. Tombs, Johns, Dr. Feltham, L. Fagg and A. G. Urwin. A large number of telegrams conveying good wishes wore received from various parts of the Dominion. The happy couple left by the express for the north, where the honeymoon is to be spent prior to taking up residence in Wellington. The bride travelled in a turquoise tunic frock trimmed with Silver lame, hat to match, and light musquash fur cot and accessories to tone. A large array of beautiful, costly and useful presents testified to the popularity and high esteem of the young people.
