Mr. Robert Laidlaw, sen., who has been spending the winter iu Queensland, returned to Auckland by the Mariposa on Saturday. Mr. E. A. Cal lauan, chairman of the board of directors of the Vacuum Oil Proprietary, Limited, with headquarters in Melbourne, arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa on Saturday to spend a fortnight’s holiday iu the'Dominion. Mr. Harold Gatty, technical adviser to the United States Army Air Corps, w ho has been visiting relatives in Australia, arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa on Saturday to spend a month in the Dominion before sailing on his return to the United States. Mr. H. S. Robinson, general secretary of the Melanesian Mission in Sydney, who was formerly stationed in Auckland, was a passenger by the Mariposa from Australia on Saturday. Mr. Robinson is now in Wellington to attend the annual meeting of the NewZealand Board ot Missions. He will return to Australia by the Monterey on September 6.
