LAMB A SHADE EASIER PORKER PIGS FIRMER Lamb market: Remains firm for light-weights, with tendency shade easier for the heavyweights. Consumption continues good, but heavier supplies of home-killed arc now being marketed. Mutton market: Wethers very firm. Prices have advanced owing to short spot stocks. Ewes: Light weights, market steady and unchanged, other weights at slightly better prices. Beef market: Quic-t and steady, with trade slow owing to low prices chilled beef. Now Zealand porker pigs: Market firm at increased prices owing to more inquiry. New Zealand baconer pigs: Nominal. Very few obtainable. The above report was received on Saturday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the approximate, average prices realised for the week ended August 23, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and arc for the representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex London stores.
