DELIGHTFUL BALL

KGA TAWA OLD GIRLS COLLEGE VISITORS ENTERTAINED Youth in happy mood and beauiful dresses enhanced with fragrant floral sprays, were characteristic of the ball arranged by Nga Tawa School obi girls and held in the Big School at the Boys’ College last evening by courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. J. Allen. Tlic occasion served as a jolly reunion, for old girls as well as to entertain the visitors from Christ’s College, Wellington and Nelson Colleges, who took part in the inter-college Rugby tournament which concluded yesterday. The committee responsible is to be congratulated on. the success of its efforts, in every way it was a most enjoyable function. Viewed from the gallery the scene presented was delightful. From the jaised platform the excellent orchestra set the pace for pleasures highly congenial to the large gathering of about 400 dancers. Supper was served buffet style in the college dining-room, where the long tables were prettily centred with Jacobean with gold ••andles and huge baskets of daffodils, Iceland poppies and pussy willow, some baskets having decorations of fruit. Mrs. Douglas Earle*was responsible for the effective decorations of the tables. The committee comprised Mesdames H. D’Arcy, H. E. B. Newton (joint secretaries), H. B. Knight, Douglas Earle, McWilliams, Netherclift, Alor-gan-Watkin, Fisher, H. D. Blytn, Misses J. Cranstone (Fordell), Brewer (Waverley), J. Blyth, Wylie. C. Walkinton (Waverley), N. Burgess, J. Treloar, G. Adams, J. Parsons (Waitolara). The ball may be regarded as one ; of the most outstanding social functions held in Wanganui.
