By winning their match against WorI eestershire Yorkshire became the champion county for 1935. This is their l eighteenth success since the championship was instituted in 1573 and their ; ninth since the war. Most of the matches in the series which was completed to-day were curtailed by,rain, the only county besides Yorkshire to win outright being Gloucestershire, who scored an innings victory at the expense of . Glamorgan. Yorkshire accounted for Worcestershire by an innings and 60 runs. Bowes and Verity ewer the most successful bowlers and Sutcliffe scored a century. There was some heavj' scoring in the other matches, with one batsman scoring a triple century and two mure double centuries, all three being not 1 out. Playing for Kent against Derby--1 shire Ashdown made 305 in an innings iof 560. His was tho only triple century of the season and he had a similar distinction last jear when he made 332 , against Essex at Brentwood. The double centuries were 209 by Sinfield (Gloucestershire) against Glamorgan and 208 by Paynter (Lancashire) against Northamptonshire. Playing against Surrey Sussex made 489, centuries being scored by John Laaigridge, Melville, and H. Parks. Other batsmen who reached threefigure scores were BarcetT (Gloucestershire), Kilner (Nottingham ishire), end Arnold (Hampshire). Among the leading bowlers were Sinfield, who followed up his big effort with the bat by taking four for 47 and five for 56, and Hopwood (Lancashire) and Kennedy (Hampshire). Glamorgan, at Cardiff.—Gloucestershire, 440 for nine, declared (Barnett 12S, Sinfield 209 not out); Glamorgan, 238 (Dyson 96; Sinfield four for 47) and, following on, 139 (Sinfield five for 56, Goddard five for 61> Gloucestershire won by an innings and 63 runs. Warwickshire v. Nottinghamshire, at Nottingham. Warwickshire, 113 (Woodhead six for 28, Voce four for 24) and 290 for three (Kilner 124, Wyatt 88 not out); Nottinghamshire, 324 (Staples 107 not out). Nottinghamshire won on the first innings. Sussex v. Surrey, at Eastbourne.— Sussev, 489 (John Langridge 111, Melville 110, James Langridge 65, Harr.r Parks 100 not out); Surrey, 315 for nine (Garland-Wells 83). Match drawn* Lancashire v. Northamptonshire, a; Northampton.—Lancashire. 521 for five, declared (Paynter 208 not Northamptonshire, 178 (Hopwood seven for 66) and, following on, 110 for none.
