PAN-AMERICAN AIRWAYS SERVICE IN NOVEMBER [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Aug. 24. Mr. Harold Gatty, who is technical adviser to the United States Army Air Force as well as to Ban-American Airways, on his arrival to-day from Sydney, said that flying-boats to sleep 21 passengers, with a speed of 150 miles an hour would be used in the San Francisco - Hongkong service, which would start about next November. This service, he thought, was fully justified by the large number of passengers no,y carried by ships. The fares would be double steamer fares, but the aeroplanes would take 3J days, compared with 13 days at least by ship. Mr. Gatty said he agreed with Sir Charles Kingsford Smith that American aeroplanes should at present be used for the Tasman service.
