AVE ATH ER FO RECAST Meteorological Office, Wellington, Sunday, August 25, 4 p.m. General Situation.—An anti cyclone still extends over the Tasman on to New Zealand. Pressure is low to the east and a slight depression is passing in the south to-day. Forecast.— Winds: Southerly predominating, mainly moderate in force, but strong at places in the far south and along the Last Coast, later winds becoming more variable. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough in Foveaux Strait and a considerable southerly swell at first south of Castlepoint, otherwise smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate southerly winds and moderate seas. Weather: For the most part fair to fine, but some showers in the far south, and in isolated places in Westland. Cold temperatures with sharp inland frosts to-night, and some morning fogs. Time of sunset (Wanganui) to-day, 5.21 p.m. Time of sunrise tomorrow', 6.24 p.m. Phases of the moon for August:—First quarter, August 8; full moon, August 15; last quarter, August 21; new' moon, August 29.
