FREE LABOUR LIKELY
SHIPOWNERS TO ACT GOVERNMENT PROTECTION NEEDED Received Aug. 24, 1.18 a.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 23. It is reliably stated to-night that if a setleanent is not reached tomorrow the shipowners will proceed to engage free labour, but before doing so they will seek the assistance of the Commonwealth Government in affording protection of wharves and the homes of the men so employed.
