WINTER WOOL SALE
OFFERING AT NAPIER. PRICES ON PAR WITH WELLINGTON. [ Per Press Association. ) 11A ST I N GS, A ug. 23. Approximately 1400 bales were offered at the winter crutchings sale at Napier to-day, compared with 616 last year. The prices were practically on a par with those ruling at the Wellington sale a week ago, except that the very best sorts were more in demand. Generally speaking, the market had an upward tendency in favour of sellers. Compared with 1934 sale prices were decidedly better. There was little demand for scoured crutchings, the best price, of 9Jd, being for a type which cost 9Ad to clean on the floor and converted to IOJd when scoured. Some buyers assert that tho reason for this is that farmers prefer to scour their own. Comparatively little fleece wool was cyi'ered compared with the Wellington sales, and this is said to indicate that growers in this district anticipate a rise in the market.
