OFF TO MASTERTON

Primary school rugby team PRESENTATION OF CAPS. ‘ • I'hc Wanganui Primary Schools' Rugby Union, and the boys are much indebted to Mr. Ross Meikle for the support he has accorded them during the year, for it has enabled us to proceed with the annual trip and has been of considerable benefit to our finances/ 3 said Mr. F. C. Jannings last night when a pleasing little ceremony was taking place at the Regent Theatre. During the interval Mr. Januings, president of the Primary Schools' Rugby Union, Mr. W. J. Rogers, Mayor of Wanganui, and the twenty boys who are to proceed to Masterton for the tournament were presented to the audience by the manager, Mr. Meikle. The boys were handed their caps by me Mayor, who congratulated them individually, afterwards expressing pleasure at being asked to make the presentation. Mr. Rogers assured the boys of the interest with which people in. Wanganui would follow their play during the tournament, and he felt sure that they would acquit themselves With, credit to the city. That than,’ would do their best at Alasterton to bring back the championship banner was the assurance voiced •?y Mr. Jannings in returning thanks io the Mayor for making the presentations and to the audience for their j eception of the team. He proceeded to express appreciation of the continued interest displayed by Mr. Meikle, who had, by staging benefit en;crtaiainents, enabled them to augment ilreir funds materially. But for b*s assistance they might not have teen able to afford the expense of sending the boys away, and they would certainly have found it difficult to furnish the team with the representative caps of which they would all be so proud, concluding, Mr. Jannings called for three cheers for the Mayer and Mr. Meikle, and these were enthusiastically given. The team, who will leave by the 6.2 C I a.m. train this morning, consists of the following;—Cornish (capt.), Signal 1, Bcrgersen, Mete Kingi, Henderson, Jones, Toatoa, Gray, Kendall, FrOmoni Reupena, Warner, McKnight, James Tairoa, Hallam, Warrilow, Larsen, Bu» V>n, Aitken.
