TOURIST COMMISSIONER
ME. R. M. FIRTH’S w6rK. [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Aug. 22. Mr. R. M. Firth, who has been appointed New Zealand Government Trade and Tourist Commissioner for Western America, is sailing by the Niagara for Vancouver. His headquarters will be in Lo s Angeles. Mr. Firth said to-day that at the outset his work would be to make contact with the travel-selling organisations and endeavour to encourage a larger tourist trade. He spoke of the success in Australia of the co-opera-tion of the New Zealand Tourist Department with the travel-selling concerns. and said that it was hoped to exend the work in the same way in the United States.
