AUSTRALIAN IMPOSITIONS. VIS IT ING A RTIST ’S CO M PLAINT. Received Aug. 22, 11.20 p.m. MELBOURNE, Aug. 22. Yehudi Menuhin’s father coinplains of •‘terrific taxation’’ on visiting artists. He says that, apart from the depreciated pound, Federal and State taxes in Australia have absorbed 5“ per cent, of the revenue from Menuhin ’s concerts.
There is a better understanding in New Zealand, where taxation is less burdensome.
