MAJESTIC CINEMA. “HAITINBSS AHEAD.’’ There is something new in motion pictures aud it was staged iu the First National production, “ Happiness Ahead, ” which comes to the Majestic Theatre to-morrow. It is an Oriental revue, done by a troupe of the fastest and wildest Chinese tap dancers. whose jazz number arc so furi-ously-paced that hereafter Harlem will be singing “That’s Why Chinese Were Born.” The set used for this unusual act is an elaborate Chop Huey Parlor. In this atmosphere of dance rhythms and Uhovv Mein, Dick Powell 'meets Josephine Hutchinson and love blossoms in the shadows of lantern-lit pagadas. 'l'he picture is a rollicking romance with strong dramatic interest, and catchy songs by Wrubel and Dixon, and Fain and Kahal. Alervyn Leßoy directed the production from the screen play by Harry Sauber and Brian Marlow, based on Sauber’s original story. POLITICAL ADDRES; Tho Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Justice and Defence, will address the electors at the Town Hall, Taihape. tonight (Friday), <coramencing at 8 o ’Hock. Amongst other political topics, Mr Cobbe will deal with the Labour Party’s proposal relative to guaranteed prices to the farmer for his produce. One opponent of the Labour Party- has described the scheme as “Political eyewash and humbug.” Come and hear Air Cobbe’s views on the subject. Questions will ba invited and everybody will be welcome. A most enjoyable evening was spent at the Otaihape Alen’s Club on Monday, when Air H. A. Hintz, who is to b£ married this week, was entertained by his friends and presented with a handsome crystal decanter aj a wedding present. The presentation was made by Mr L. B. IT. de Latour, who paid a high tribute to the popularity and gentlemanly qualities of Mr Hinlz and wished him every success and happiness in his married life. Aloises John and Charlie Quirk, B. C. Fitzherbert and E. Luurie spoke in a similar strain. Air Hintz feelingly responded. A snooker tournev was held and resulted in the prizes being awarded to Mr Hintz and Mr Barrett. Needless Io say Air Hintz’s win was most popular ami appropriate, and was greeted with loud applause. A very tasly supper.
