MINIATURE RIFLES

NEW WANGAEHU CLUB A new venture was launched at Wa* gachu on Saturday evening, when tha opening shoot of the Miniature Rifle Club took place. Undaunted by the rough night, over fifty persons were present, which augurs well for the success of the club. Mr Johns (president) introduced Mr A. Stuart. M.P., who, alter having congratulated the valley i on having formed a rifle club, referring I to shooting as clean sport, officially deI dared the range open. i The first shot, h bulls eye, was fired by Mrs Stuart, after which a shooting I competition was indulged in. The | ladies’ match was won by Airs A. Stuait, and the men’s was won by Mr Fowler, a member of the Kaitoke Club. Supper was then enjoyed, after which Mr Johns returned '.hanks to Mr and ■Mrs Stuart for their ready help, €• the committee for t’eir work during the last few weeks, and to the iadfea who served supper. It was pleasing to see a party of enthusiasts from Kaitokp and Turakina. It was announced that practice matches would be held every Saturday evening for ’ho present.
