CAR OVERTURNS

ROLLS ELEVEN FEET Y HEADS ROAD SMASH .Ytter swerving to the left and thei sharply to the right, a fivc-seatei touring car overturned on Heads Road near the Caius Avenue corner shortly after three o’clock yesterday afternoon and rolled eleven feet before coming tc a standstill upside down. The vehicle was proceeding in the direction of the city and the two occupants, Alessrs. Roy and Douglas Forward, of Fordell, were thrown clear when the vehicle overturned. They were admitted to the hospital in a fairly serious condition. The car was badlv smashed. Roy Forward is suffering from concussion and his brother, Douglas, has a broken thigh. Their condition late last night had not changed. How the accident occurred is not known. Another car, which was driven by Air. C. Trotter, of Hawera. and proceeding in the same direction, was . struck by the vehicle after it overturned. Air. Trotter heard a sound behind him similar to the screeching of brakes and swerved sharply to the left to avoid the oncoming car. Air. Trotter’s vehicle was struck a heavy blow on the left and a door was smashed. The St. John Free Ambulance was quickly on the scene and the cases were conveyed to hospital within 13 minutes oi' the call being registered. The ambulance officers were given every assistance by the crowd which assembled.
