RADIO TRANSMITTERS
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. TALK BY MR. BRADLEY. The fortnightly meeting of the Wanganui branch of New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters usually held on a Monday evening was postponed and held last Wednesday evening in the club’s room. Members did not roll up as they should have done, however, the attendance was augmented by a large number of visitors. The attraction for the evening was a talk on ‘‘Radio’’ given by Mr. E. A. Bradley. The speaker brought with him a very interesting collection of old radio tubes, ranging from the old ‘‘coherer” detector, to a large transmitting tube as used in 2YA. Great interest was taken in Ihe older tubes: it gave those present an idea of the enormous improvements made in the manufacture of the later types. Mr. Bradley’s talk covered some "I the methods used in making the old tubes, later improvements, and the re suiting benefits. The, talk concluded with a brief description of the new transmitter for IVA Auckland.
