Caught red-handed and held up at the point of a shotgun at midnight, a thief was captured by a Papanui householder in the act of making off with live sacks of potatoes. This morning the thief. ‘William Thomas Crocker, a butcher, aged 44 years, was sentenced to 18 months’ reformative detention for theft.
