VICTORIA LEAGUE
ENJOYABLE MUSICAL AFTERNOON There was a large attendance of members and friends at the Victoria League Rooms yesterday, when the committee held a successful musical afternoon. An enjoyable and interesting programme had been arranged by Airs. A. IL Boyes and was much appreciated.' by those present. In the unavoidable absence of Airs. N. K. Bain (president), Aliss Gibbous acted as hostess. Bowls of mimosa, red camelias and variegated foliage decorated the mantelpiece and table and a bright lire added tu tue cneeriness of the atmo-sphere. Contributing to the programme were Miss Joan Graham, who played several pianoforte solo-', winch were much enjoyed, both for descriptive playing and the explanatory remarks which preceded them. Air. Leo Campion was most generous and gave great pleasure with her songs, “la a Little House,” “Sink, Sink Red Sun,” “A Alaori Song," “To a Miniature,” “Trees’ and “The Winds that Blow.” Mrs. A. B. Jamieson sang “ Aleadow Sweet ’ and responded to an insistent encore with “Love’s Rhapsody.” Mrs. JL Doull sang sweetly, “The Wind's m the South,” her encore number living “Fairy Tales of Ireland.” Aliss Thelma Cornish and Aliss J. Graham playea the accompaniments. At the conclusion of the programme, the members enjoyed a very dainty afternoon tea in the Elrick Lounge Among those present were: Ales dames A. G.
