N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAMME FOR TO-DAY PERSONNEL OF TEAMS WELLINGTON, July J 9. Most of the competitors in the New Zealand cross-country harrier championship tu be held over the Lyall Bay course to-morrow have arrived in Wellington. The Otago team and some uf the Canterbury representatives arrived yesterday ami the remaining Canterbury competitors and the Auckland, Hawke’s Bay and West Coast. (N.J.) teams are expected some time to-day. Otago is the present champion team, and the members are confident of retaining the championship. Otago has won the chanipionshi, on twelve occasions since the inception of the event. Yesterday afternoon the team was conducted over the course by Mr R. Watterson, chairman of the Wellington harrier sub-committee, and Mr L. A. Bond, a member of the sub-comniittce. To-day, members from other centres had a preliminary run over the course, which is considered by some competitors to be a half-minute to a minute faster than the Wingatui couise. The manager of the New Zealand team, which will coinpet'? in rhe Australian championships in August, Mr C. 11. White, will arrive from Wanganui to-morrow.
