' CANADA MUST BUY MORE ‘■MOST ASTUTE STATESMAN.” VANCOUVER, July 17. The Rt. Hon. J. A. Lyons sailed by the Niagara after a three-hours’ stay in Vancouver, during which he was welcomed and farcwclled by thc Premier (Mr. Pattullo), the Vancouver Board of Trade, the Mayor (Mr. McGreer) and representatives of the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association. He told all frankly that Australia cannot continue her present status under which Australia buys £3 worth for every £1 purchased by Canada. “Buy more from us, so that we can buy more from you,” he said. Thc trade representatives admitted the logic of the case. Thc Daily Province states: “The delegation left him drenched with the opinion that Canada should buy more from Australia. He is thc most astute statesman who has ever put across a sales argument for Australia. He made the boll ying where it only tinkled before.” Df. Mr. Bennett, Mr. Lyons said that he had received every courtesy in his frank conference.
