A minute embodying these sentiments was placed on the books. Hr. O. Naumann, who lias been an j pointed to succeed Mr. Will Hutchens I as Conductor of the Wanganui Orehes- I tial Society, has had a long experience in orchestral work, having been a member of orchestral -ocieties in Dunedin Christchurch, and Palmerston North! besides taking part in numerous musical carnivals. In Dunedin he placed under the famous conductor, Mr. siapoffski. During his residence m Wanganui Mr. Naumann has given generously of his time'in assisting manTlocal organisations. Mr. Robert Owen Ellis, clerk of the Taranaki County Council, died suddenly at New Plymouth on Wednesday morning at the age of 63 years. Mr, Ellis went to his work at the usual time in the morning, but he was not in his room when other members of the stull arrived. He had died of heart failure in another part of the building. Mr. l-llis had been in the council’s employ lor 30 years an dhe had become almost I a traditional figure in the office. An unusually competent worker, he waa courteous and obliging. Although lie carried out his duties quietly, his unassuming personality had made a deep impression. *
