SPORTS AND PASTIMES I Owing to heavy rain on Thursday, lhe ladies’ golf competitions had to be jiostponed, and the L.G.U. competitions will now be played on Tuesday next, the draw being the same as published. To-day's Rugby games wni include senior and junior matches between Bulls and Athletic Clubs, the iunuer being played at Marlon, and the latter at Bulls. Great interest is being taken in the showing of our players in these opening games of the competitions. The Bulls senior fifteen is strong in forwards, but several of the rearguard may lack the necessary combination, as well as condition- However, they should take some beating to-day. The Bulls juniors are light, but there is any amount of talent here in this grade, and the selectors should have no difficulty in picking a fairly smart side. ON THE RANGE There was a good muster at the weekly shoot held this week on the Bulls Aliniature Rille Club’s range and some good scores were registered. C. AL. Broughton and T. Walker, chairman of the Town Board, presided over a well-at-tended meeting of persons interested in the Jubilee Celebrations in Bulls, and expressed pleasure at the interest being taken in the function. Representatives of PareWanui and other districts were present, and apologies were received from Messrs. T. G. Shilton and W. J. Guv (Raumai Road)- Arrangements were finalised for Monday morning’s service in the Town Hall at 10.0, and the children will then be taken to the Domain, where sports will be arranged, and tea, cakes, fruit, lollies and soft drinks provided. If the weather is wet, the celebrations will be postponed until Wednesday. ATessrs. Hill Bros, have kindly offered to convey Parewanui schoolchildren to Bulls free of charge, and the pupils will assemble at Parewanui School at 9.30 a.m. Glyneath children will come by private ears. The Town Hall has been secured for a Coster Ball on Wednesday evening, and a professional orchestra engaged. Strong committees of ladies and men have all arrangements well in hand, and it is expected that there will be a great gathering of young and old here on Afonday. OBITUARY. The death occured at Wanganui on Wednesday night of Airs. William Aleads, sour., of Bulls. The deceased was born in Gloucestershire, England, 69 years ago, and came to New Zealand when 19 years of age. After living in Wellington for a time, she went to Alar!borough, and later on married and resided in various parts ot. the North Island, including Taranaki, Mauawatu ami Kangitikei, coming with her husband and’family to Bulls some 20 years ago. There were six choldren of the marriage, as follows:—Four sons, William, Hubert and Lawrence (all of Bulls), and Jack (of New Plymouth); and two daughters, Airs. -I. Alerrin (Otorohanga) and Miss E. Meads Hastings). Grandchildren number nine. Great sympathy is felt for Mr. Aleads, senr., and family in their sad bereavement. Interment took place at Clifton cemetery, Bulls, on Friday afternoon.

A fast-action story of newsreel cameramen which embraces a thrilling wreck of a huge dirigible in an Atlantic gale, a crash between a destroyer and a submarine, a thrilling prize fight for a championship, arc only a few ot the thrills in store. “Above the Clouds” is without doubt the most spectacular film ever screened at the Bulls Town Hall. Supports include comedy, ear toon, newsreel, sports thrills and traveltalk. and a special Cinesound of the Maori reception to H.R.U. the Duke of Gloucester at Rotorua. This fine programme is screening to-day and to-night at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
