IMPROVED TORPEDO
GERMAN INVENTIONS PROPELLED BY ELECTRICITY NO TELL-TALE AIR BUBBLES Received March 21, 11.55 p.m. LONDON, March 21. The Daily Telegraph’s naval corra spondent says that German expert! have greatly improved the torpedo by propelling it by electricity instead of compressed air, thus eliminating the track of air bubbles which is visible to the enemy. Th© electric torpedo is slower than the latest compressed air torpedo, but can exceed .30 miles an hour, which would be very dangerous to slow-mov ing merchantmen. German naval men have also devised a method of invisible firing by hiding the rush of air from the tube. Hitherto the upheaval on the surface has be-, traved the firing.
