HEAD of the river CHAMPIONSHIP EIGHTS WANGANUI’S OWN REGATTA A regatta which will hold particular interest for Wanganui because of the fact that it will be contested by eiglitoar crews only will be held on Saturday afternoon, the course being that over which the championship events arc decided. The finishing post will be at the Wanganui Motor Boat Club landing. The main event, at 2.30 p.m., wil be the race for the Head-of-the-River Championship Cup, at present held by the Aramoho Club. This should prove a Keenly-contested and interesting race, with the added incentive that the crew to represent Wanganui in the interprovincial eight-oar championship at Dunedin will be selected fro mt he competing oarsmen. Another interesting event to be decided is the junior Head-of-the-River championship, which will decide the destination of the Aulsebrook Cup. In previous years the trophy has been competed f<»r by all weights, the club with the greatest number of successes holding the trophy, but this year the junior eights will have the competition to themselves. The Helean Cup premier speed-boat event will be raced for by the speedy local craft and in this race the longawaited clash between Miss Wanganui and Miss Ethel will take place. This will be staged between the rowing events and is sure to draw a record crowd. In the evening the Aramoho Club will hold a dance to augment the fund to send the Wanganui eight to Dun-

edin and during the evening the cups won by both the eights and the ladies’ fours will be presented to the winners. The following is the draw for positions in the respective events: Senior Eights.—Aramoho No. 1, Union No. 2, Wanganui No. 3. Junior Eights.—Union No. 1, Aramoho No. 2, Wanganui No. 3.

Ladies’ Fours.—Miss Leonard (Wanganui) No. 1, Miss Herd (Aramoho) No. 2, Miss Noble (Aramoho) No. 3, Miss Broadbent (Wanganui) No. 4, Miss Stevens (Union) No. 5.
