General Situation. —A moderate anti-cyclone is now moving on to New Zealand. * Forecast.—Winds: South-west to south-east predominating, strongon parts of the east coast and about Cook Strait; elsewhere moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough north of Bank’s Peninsula and in the Cook Strait area, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate southerly winds, later tending northerly; seas, smooth to moderate. Weather: Some scattered showers at first on the east coast and in the far north but improving, except between Cook Strait and East Cape. Fine in western districts. Temperatures cool. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday:—Bright sunshine, 9 hours 50 minutes. Rainfall, .tin. Shade temperature: Maximum, 68 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 61 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon for March: New moon. March 5; first quarter, March 12; full moon, March 20; last quarter. March 28.
