SYLVANDALE'S SUCCESSES.

TWO WINS AT FLEMINGTON. In winning the V.R.C. St Leg er Stakes at Flemington last Saturday week and following up that feat with a victory in the Australian Cup last. Saturday, Sylvandale must rank as one of the outstanding contestants at the Victorian Racing Club’s autumn meeting. Sylvandale gave his stablemate Theo a great battle in the Victoria Derby in the spring, and he has now manifested complete superiority over him. As a two-year-old, he won thrice at Bandwick, and one of these successes was gained in the A.J.C. Fetrnhill Handicap, one mile, in which he carried 8.11 and was followed home by Theo, 9.0. Sylvandale is by Silvius, a good imported horse who raced only two seasons. His successes included the Moon.ee Valley Gold Cup, Melbourne Stakes, and C. B. Fisher Plate, and he was runner-up to Trivalve in the Melbourne Cup. Silvius is the sire of Braeburn, winner of the Queensland Derby and Cup. He is by the Polymelus horse Silvern from Addenda, half-sister by Spearmint to Pretty Polly, La Bergeronnette, dam of Sylvandale, is an imported mare by Poor Boy (son of Perth II) from Strathglass (half-sister to Eaton Lad, a successful sire in Australia), by Isinglass from Hush by Her-1 mit from Knavery, by Lord Clifden from Flutter, by Alarm.
