RACING AT RICCARTON C.J.C. EASTEB MEETING. CHANGES IN PROGRAMME. Several alterations have been made in distances and conditions in the programme for the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Easter meeting, which was approved by the committee last week. The stakes represent a net increase of £l6O, but this is arrived at by increases made some time ago of £lOO each in the Champagne Stakes and Challenge Stakes, while £4O was taken off the Courtenay Handicap, which has been changed from an open event to a novice event. The Kildare aud Peerswick brush steeplechases were altered in name to brush hurdle races, and the order of the two races on the first day was transposed, the Courtenay Handicap being made the sixth and the Papanui Handicap the eighth race. The Papanui and Gimcrack Handicaps were increased from 6 to 7 furlongs, aud the Courtenay Handicap was reduced from 7 furlongs to 6 furlongs, and will be for horses that at the time of starting have not won a race of a value of £5O to the winner. The Yaldhurst Handicap on the second day will have a similar restriction, and will also be a six-furlongs race instead of a mile. The distance of the Addington

Handicap on (.he second 'lay was increased from a mile Io 9 furlongs, and the Templeton Handicap, the concluding event of the second day, was reduced from 7 to 6 furlongs. In accordance with a previous decision all hack races except the Addington Handicap have been deleted and the races will be run under special conditions for horses that have never won a flat race of a value of £2OO or flat races of an aggregate value of £4OO.
