VALUELESS CHEQUES

12 MONTHS’ DETENTION. For obtaining credit by false representation a single man, Archibald Cameron, 28 years of age, was sentenced to reformative detention yesterday by Mr. J. H. Salmon S.M. He .was convicted on other charges, involving the issue of valueless cheques, and was discharged. Accused was charged with issuing two valueless cheques in Wanganui. These were tendered for small purchases and the balance given in change. He was also charged with representing to a Wanganui branch of a clothing firm that he was a client of the Marton branch. He had obtained credit for an overcoat valued at £4 7s 6d. Mr. Salmon imposed reformative detention for a period not exceeding 12 pinnth®.
