CAMPBELL DETERMINED FRIENDS’ REQUESTS REFUSED Received March JI, 11.5 pan. DAYTONA BEACH, March 10. Sir Malcolm Campbell flatly refused a request from British friends and associates to give up further speed trials. A message from Lord Rothermere referred to the calamitous risks involved, saying; “Britain cannot afford to lose so gallant a sportsman.’’ Sir Malcolm said: “1 fully realise the risks, and will make no further attempts unless the beach and weather conditions improve considerably. I am staying here for ten days hoping that the tide will turn.”
