At Mountain Ash, in a bout for the British cruiser-weight championship, Eddie Phillips, of London, outpointed Tommy Farr, holder, who was severely punished, both eyes being damaged. AT WEMBLEY STADIUM BOUT AT TERRIFIC PACE. NEUSEL DEFEATS PETERSEN. LONDON, Feb. 4. At Wembley, Walter Neusel defeated Petersen in the. eleventh round. The opening rounds were contested at a terrific pace. Both fought like furies, taking punishment in an endeavour to score a decisive blow. Neusel was by far the more effective. Petersen, despite his gallant efforts, failed to keep the German at long range, and was rocked by punch after punch until he was on the verge of falling when the towel was thrown in. It was a tragic fight for Petersen, who hoped that victory would enable him to meet Hamas as a preliminary to a fight with Max Baer. Petersen said he lost because he was blinded with blood.
