THE FORDELL SALE There w;is :ui entry of about eleven thousand sheep nt Eordell yesterday. Tile continued dry weather is begianing to affect the, buying power, many farjners not yet being able to getaway their tat stock. Taranaki buyers were again strong bidders and bought a big proportion of the yarding. 5 oung ewes sold quite well. Top price of 26s was secured for a line ol: over 401) twotootlis offered on behalf of Mr. Duncan Mackintosh. A line of two-tooth wethers from Marlborough Sounds sold at 17s lOd—not quite as high as recent sales. Lambs, of which there were about 1000, sold al about late rates for Southdowns anil about tid less for Horn neys. A lino of splendid ewe lambs sold on behalf of Mr. Donald Hoss, made 16s 7d. Two hundred ■ wether lambs from the same vendor made .13s 8d and 400 medium shorn wether lambs from Maflborough Sounds made 12s Id. A line of 700 live-year ewes in average condition only made .15s sd. Hough old ewes and small lambs again sold at prices apparently dear in comparison with the. wether sheep. Some of the other sales were as 10l lows:—2B2 4 and 5 year ewes on ne count of T. Hume, 17s Id; 228 b-yenr ewes on account of Montgomerie Bios., Ills; Nelson Estate, 500 5-year ewes at Ills <)d 475 I year owes at 17s 0d and 18s- Hamilton Bros., 660 5 year ewes.
