"TEN MINUTE ALIBI." AND "THE WIND AND THE RAIN. ’ ’ “Ton Minute Alibi,” the thrilling dramatic sensation, which is to be presented for the first time here by the J. C. Williamson Ltd., new London company at the Opera House on Saturday night next is one of the most intriguing plays the English-speaking stage has yet produced. It is unusual in its construction, it bristles with problems and suspense, and it keeps the audience in a thrilling state of excitement until a minute before the final fall of the curtain. On Monday night next, the company will present the New Zealand playwright’s (Dr. Merton Hodge’s) brilliant comedy triumph, “The Wind and the Rain,” which, although it has been running continuously for over 12 months is still the reigning theatrical attraction in England. So successful was “Ten Minute Alibi” in Auckland that its season there had Io be considerably extended and critics and playgoers alike declared it to be, by far, the best and most entertaining drama ever seen in New Zealand. Although it is an in tensely interesting drama there is an amount of genuine comedy throughout its three acts, and it unfolds a delightful love romance. Features of the production are the stage setting, and the unique and brilliant lighting effects. Great interest centres in the production of “The Wind and the Rain,” which has won for the New Zealand author (Dr. Merton Hodge) a name amongst the best, playwrights Ungland has known.
