As expected Wanganui had no diffi'enilty in securing a first innings win jover Technical Old Boys, who had to ’fight hard to avoid outright defeat. The other game was in doubt right up to the fall of the final wicket. United after being behind 36 runs on the first finnings, made a great effort to reverse ithe result on the second innings, but failed by six runs. Facing Wanganui’s huge score of 401 Old Boys made a bad start, losing four wickets cheaply, due to devastating bowling by Evans. United had the comparatively easy task of scoring 146 to ■win. The opening pair, Sewell and JtVood, gave the side a good start, but nevertheless batted slowly and cut Bow’n the time available for the later Datsmen. Wood scored 18 and Sewell Compiled 41. Three cheap wickets fell \fcnd brought Holland to the crease. He watted very freely for 17 but was then fclean bowled.
