WANGANUI EAST CLUB VISIT FROM OROUA An interesting and enjoyable day's play took place on the Wanganui East green yesterday, when a party of six rinks Irom the Oroua Bowling Club, Feilding, visited Wanganui East and were entertained by the local club. In extending a welcome to the visitors, the president, Mr. A. W. Jones, referred to the club's “museum” in which, contrary to the usual custom of museums, the visitors were welcome to touch the “exhibits,” ■which had a mysterious quality of disappearing when held in the hand. In returning thanks, the president of the Oroua Club, Mr. Kausman, remarked that his party would treat the “exhibits” with due respect and would “put them down” carefully. Continuing iu more serious vein, the speaker regretted the absence of his old friend, Mr. Con. Heinold, who had recently lost his wile, and to whom the speaker wished to extend his sympathy. After the visitors had been entertained to morning tea, the games were proceeded with and resulted in a comfortable win for the visitors on the aggregate of the day’s play. WANGANUI CLUB VISIT FROM FEILDING Yesterday was the occasion of the annual visit of the Feilding Bowling Club to try conclusions with their olu rivals, the Wanganui Club. Eight rinks made the trip and played a morning and an afternoon game. The visitors were welcomed by Mr. li. F. Tilley, president of the Wanganui Club, who expressed the pleasure it gave members of his club to once again have the Feilding players with them and. trusted that the games would be well contested and the day a pleasurable one. Mr. Mureh, president of the Feilding Club, responded, thanking the Wanganui players for the cordial welcome accorded the visitors. He referred to the veiy long period of time over which this fixture mid been regularly played and at the close of play thanked the Wanganui Club for its hospitality and for a most enjoyable day. The interchange of cheers brought to a close a very successful day. Morning and afternoon tea were dispensed by Mrs. H. F. Tilley, assisted by Mrs. A. I‘. London, contributing largely to file success of the day’s entertainment. ; It is worthy of note that this fix- | tare dates back at least to 1898, the earliest date for which records are now | extant.
