R. Syme Photo. AEROPLANE CRASH ON EGMONT.—During the week-end an official inspection of the aeroplane which crashed on Mount Egmont with the Joss of two lives was made by members of the New Plymouth Aero Club and Government officers. The photo shows the rata into which the aeroplane crashed, with all that was left of the wings of the machine after the crash. The engine and fuselage were driven right through this hollow tree and landed 20 yards away. The hole made through the tree ' can be seen about three-quarters of the way up.
