GOLF CLUB. The club brought a most successful season to a finish, on Friday evening, the members were entertained to a dinner at the local hotel. .Several toasts were honoured and the president presented the trophies for the various competitions throughout the season. This year, there had been a competition each week-end for both ladies and men The majority of these in the ladies’ section, were won by Mrs. A. McCaskie, others were won by Mrs. H. Thompson and Miss T. Kreger. A miniature cup for the ladies’ championship was won by Miss C. Meads, who also won a miniature for a handicap competition. Medals were won by Miss Meads (2) and Mrs. McCaskic. The men’s championship was won by H. Fankhauser. The Haythome Shield was won by A. McCaskie. Medals were won by Messrs W. E. Boshier, H. Thompson, D. and T. Morgan. The B grade championship was won by Mr. P. E. Jewell. Various other trophies for the weekly competitions were won by G. Kreger, "W. E. Boshier. D. T. Coupcr, A. J. Tompkins, 8 e A. Meads, N. F. and C. Bay av ell. After the dinner a most enjoyable public dance was held in liu hall, music being supplied by Messrs. J. Can and F. Clarke, whilst extras were played by 8. Moess, .Messrs. N. Say well and W. E. Boshier were Al’s.G. TENNIS CLUB. The annual meeting was held on Tuesday evening, and despite the inclement weather prevailing, was very well attended. The balance-sheet showed the club to be in a very sound financial position. It is intended to write and get quotes from some linns, with a view to improving one or both of the courts. The officials for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—President, Mr. T. Morgan, club captain and Mr. N. Saywell; secretary, Mr. A. Pettigrew. Miss B. Martin and Mr. N. Martin were added to the general commatfeg. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. Owing to the very wintry weather ; prevailing the meeting was postponed ; from last Tuesday till the 18th inst. The speakers for the afternoon will : be Mesdames Stanley and Gubbins of Apiti. The competitions will be the ; prettiest vase of spring flowers, with foliage and the best buttonhole (to be . made in the room).
