MENINGITIS OUTBREAK
NO DANGER OF SPREADING. TOLAGA BAY CASKS. [ Per Pi ess Association ] GISBORNE, Sept. 17. There is now no danger of the cerebro spinal meningitis outbreak in the Toiaga Bay district spreading. The isolation of two households has been lifted and it is hoped that lhe same course will be taken with the. other by to-morrow. It is expected that the three patients in hospital will recover. These points were mentioned by Dr. H. B. Turbott, medical officer of health, who returned from the coast during the week-end. Swabs taken from contacts were negative with the exception of two, which were doubtful. It was .ortunate, Dr. Turbott added, that the ouibn-ak occurred in *r. isolated county district, for the disease appeared id \ virulent form, which might easily have turned to ? serious epidemic had the cases occurred in a thickly populated area.
