Following the success of the zone silence introduced as an experiment in London on August 27, the use of horns by motor vehicles between 11.30 p.m. and 7 a.m. from to-night will be pro- ’ hibited on all roads throughout the United Kingdom in the built-up areas, i that is, roads with street lamps not ’ more than 200 yards apart. All the big towns and suburbs, and many ’’ thousand miles of roads, will thus become a vast silence area nightly. The Minister of Transport has issued L ' a personal appeal thanking the motor- ’ ists of London for their co-operating, ’ and asking for similar co-operation from motorists throughout the whole e country.
