VALEDICTORY. MRS. AND MISS PRITCHARD. A large and representative gathering ic * n 1C uwn Ka.ll on Friday even ing last to bid farewell to Mrs. I. Prit 5 chard who has been actively associated re * with social and church work in Ohi ngaiti for the past 26 years. Th< evening took the form of a social and dance, music being supplied by th< I Black Diamonds Orchestra, and extras were played by Mrs. Wereta and H Thompson. Misses L. and J. Stent conw tributed a pianoforte duet, Airs. S Lowry and Mr. A. Charles vocal solos and Misses M. Wereta. D. and M Stent and N. Morine, part songs. ~ During the evening, Air R. A. Gower on behalf of the residents of Ohingaiti and district, expressed to Airs. Pritchard and daughter the general regret Y felt at their departure and spoke of the loss to the community occasioned by ). the losing of two whe had both taken “ an active part in the affairs of the ■ district. Alusical honours were accorded the guests and Air. Hector Pritchard suitably replied on behalf of his mother and sister. COLLIE CLUB. A meeting of the general committee of the Ohingaiti District Collie Club was held on Saturday evening. Air. A. C. B. Alunro presiding. Also present were Alessrs K. W Wrightson (secretary), L. McLean, Aliller, E. England, J. Goodwin, 8. M. Calley, Henderson, W. 8. Alarshall, E. Alorton, Lindsay, Alclntosh and F. A. Mclntyre. | Apologies for absence were re- ~ ceived from F. R. Fulton and H. Pritchard, Votes of sympathy were passed to I Air. 8. A. McAlley, in the loss of his I father and to Air. L. E, Weston in the I loss of his brother, members standing I in silence. I Mr. Logan AlcLean expressed the I sympathy of members with the chairI man and the secretary in their recent illnesses and congratulated them on their recovery. Correspondence was received from Mr. A. C. Alarton re treatment of distemper in dogs by vaccine virus method and it was decided, in view of the reference made to the matter by the 1 North Island Centre, to write to the r, Wallaceville Laboratories for further - information. s The annual report of the North - Island Dog Trials Association was - tabled and discussed. s Air. W. 8, Marshall complemented the a president, Air. A. C. B. Alunro on his 1 election to the North Island executive e as representing the Wanganui . centre . and expressed the appreciation of all . at the valuable work done by Air. Munro. ’ The balance-sheet was reported as . having been audited and prepared for i submission to the annual general meetj ing. The credit balance of £37 was - remarked upon as showing a highly satisfactory position. The chairman moved and Mr. F. 1 England seconded that a hearty vote of 3 thanks be accorded the secretary and . treasurer, Air. R. W Wrightson, for the 5 very able and willing manner in which . the arduous duties had been carried out and voted him the honorarium of £2 2s. The secretary was instructed to open , an account in the Post Office Savings Bank and deposit the balance of the . finances. It was decided to have the club's : building insured with the State Eire , Insurance office. The date of the annual general meeting was fixed for October 6. Votes of thanks were passed to Air. Logan AlcLean for the supply of good sheep for past trials, to Air. B. Rule for donation of labour, and to the auditor, Mr. A. Charles. in view of the fact that the district championships are to be run at Ohingaiti next season, it was decided to apply for dates for the second week in Wanganui. It was deciedd to recommend to the annual general meeting that the general committee consist of not less than 2.1 members and that the committee be given power to co-opt additional members if necessary. . CRICKET CLUB. Rain spoilt what would have proved to be a very interesting match on .Saturday afternoon when the Sandon Block members of the local club challenged the rest. The match was played at Bandon Block, the ‘‘Rest” batting first and compiling a total of 6U runs. Sandon Block replied with 32 runs for four wickets when rain caused the abandonment of play.
