21st BIRTHDAY PARTY An interesting and enjoyable evening was spent by all in the Railway Social Hull on August 8 al a dance given by Mr. and Hrs. G. A. Wilslier, lhe occasion being the 21st birthday ot their daughter, Mavis Ellen* Over a hundred guests were present. Novelty dances were won by Mrs. Waterhouse and Mr. I. Hamil, Miss Wilsher and Mr. D. Johansen, and Miss S. Hall and Mr. N. Powell. During the evening Mr. L* B. H. De Latour proposed the toast to the guest of the evening, Mr. Wilsher responding on behalf of his daughter. GENERAL NEWS Mr. Mark Autunovich, who will wrestle Mr. Arthur Stratton at the Town Hall, Taihape, to-morrow (Thursday) evening, arrived iu Taihape by the 5 p.m. train yesterday and is staying at Ern’s Hotel A Wellington Rugby team consisting of Porter, Johnston, Kilby, Page and other well known players is contemplating a visit tu raihape on October 6. R.S.A. The monthly meeting of the Taihape and District Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Saturday evening, when the president (Mr. L H. Haydon) presided over an attendance of some 45 members. The president welcomed Mr. A. McDonald, of the Ohingaiti Sub-branch, and Mr. J. Scott, formerly of Masterton. The chairman also extended a hearty welcome to all country members. The Military Ball committee wrote offering the same concessions to R.S.A. members wearing badges or medals as territorials wearing uniforms, namely | 4s 6d a double ticket instead of 7s fid.
