OBITUARY. MR. T. CAMERON. A very old settler of the district., Mr. Thomas Cauieruii, died at Mangahoe, 1 Hunterville, ou Monday, aged 82 years. 1 The late Mr. Cameron had been farm- d ing at Mangahoe for many years, but i had been laid up for the past two years, l He was born in Inverness, Scotland, l and came to New Zealand 70 years ago. t His wife predeceased him about two t and a-half years ago. 1 The family are: Messrs. Jones, secretary ot tne Swimming Baths Committee, wrote thanking the board for obtaining permission to allow use of the hall tree for functions and meetings in connection with the establishment of swimming baths. , , . The National Estates. Ltd., wrote asking that the rate demand on the Argyle Hotel property be sent direct to that company. —Attended to. The Power Board, stating that charges for street lighting from October next would be £3 10s per annum for 100 c.p. ami £4 10s for toll c.p. lamps. . Mrs. L ..I. Thompson wrote on behalf of the women of Hunterviffl district, thanking the board for the cheque towards 11m cost of the tablet to be placed on the rest room building. The secretary, Fire Brigade, wrote asking for a reduction of amount of hall charge for the brigade's last dance, as the dance was run mainly for the purpose of raising funds to purchase extra, working tunics. If was derided on the motion ot Messrs Clarke and Ching to make a grant of £2 2s towards the uniform fund. „ Miss Hurley was granted a lease ot the shop for 12 mouths with right ot renewal. Hall Insurance. The South British Insurance Co. wrote forwarding a cover of £2<)oo o-i the hall against fire and earthquake ami fire resulting from earthquake. After inspection the company issued i a proposal for £4OOO. After some discussion, when members thought £4OOO at a premium of £2O | per annum was too high, it was decided to consider the question at a specia meeting on Monday next. The Union Co. notified that the eon- | tents were covered for £lOOO under the same risks. It was decided to notify the oom pany that the library books wore not stated in the cover. The State Fire Office wrote regretting the board had not renewed in that especially as it was advised on ,|„|v 6 that the State office would allow the concession as granted to borough councils, while it was not until \ugus"t 8 that the Associated Companies agreed to grant the concession, the manager asked that the matter be placed before the board so that the attitude of the State office be underwood and Hie insurance be again placed with the State office at the expiration of the current term. The letter was received, the chairman pointing out that it was tho South British Company which first advised the board of the concession due as a local body. Financial Statement. The chairman said the foreman estimated the cost at £l3l 10s for concreting Paraekaretu Street footpath, six feet wide (material only). DOMAIN BOARD. ■ At the conclusion of the Town Board meeting on Monday night, the same members sat as Hunterville Domain 1 Board. 1 The secretary reported fhat he had written the lessee of Queen’s Park as n recommended by the Commissioner of 7 Crown Lands, but had received no ! reply. The lessee was £37 10s in ar- ] roars with his rent, and he would like instructions as to what action should L bo taken.
