HOLMDALE DELAYED
MUST WAIT FOR MEETING CREW WISH TO ATTEND OTHER WATERFRONT TROUBLE. ( Per Press Association ). WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. A few minutes before the coastal steamer Holmdale was due to leave tonight for Dunedin, the crew intimated that they would not take her 1o sea, as they wanted to attend a stop-work meeting of the Seamens and Firemen’s Union to-morrow morning. Trouble also was experienced with the waterside workers discharging newsprint from the Parracombe, the men refusing to handle more than one reel of newsprint in each sling, instead of the customary two. Trouble also was experienced in handling the cargo from the Makura. It is understood that cnly one gang was required to work overtime, but they refused to do so unless the other gangs working during the day were given overtime also.
